As a sociologist I am interested in the root causes of conflicts. I perceive conflicts as a challenge and chance for positive change at the same time. Preconditions for the latter are – from my point of view – an analysis of system dynamics and the willingness to work constructively on forward-looking solutions.
Disamament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR) of ex-combattants is a first step in the transition from war to peace and a crucial prerequisite for security and development. Building on DDR experiences in Afghanistan and South Sudan I consult international organisations in the field of security sector reform, in particular as a reintegration specialist.
Besides, I conduct conflict studies. In 2016, on behalf of the peace service agency EIRENE I undertook an assessment of conflicts and peaceful coexistence in German refugee accommodations and host communities.
